ATHENS, Tenn. -- Area children are still learning about the world around them, thanks to the legacy of one of McMinn County s beloved educators.Professor W.E. Nash operated one of the few schools in the region available to black children during segregation in the 20th century.And as children get ready soon for another school year, the McMinn County Living Heritage Museum has a special corner devoted to Mr. Nash and his times. School field <a href=https://www.stanley-cups.at>stanley cup</a> trips, some from as far away as Chattanooga, will come here to learn about not only Mr. Nash but the world around them.The museum s work reflects the same devotion to education, Executive Director Diane Hutsell said. It s not just in the schools, but in the community as a whole, she said. We hope to get schoolchildren here so that, as adults, they will enjoy museums and their cultural history even more. Some kids realize Mr. Nash s significance to local history, said curator Lisa Chastain. We really pushed this hard during February, Black History Month, Ms. Chastain said.
