Adds a crew (15 photos) Work is underway to repair an old stone wall at Greenwood Cemetery that was badly damaged last month by an alleged drunk driver. As SooToday firs stanley cup t reported, police were called to the area of Peoples Road and Fourth Line on the evening of May 22 after a white van smashed into one of the cemetery walls.A 67-year-old man was later charged with multiple offences, including impaired and dangerous driving. On Monday, the cityrsquo public works and engineering department got to work fixingthe damage.Roger Nenonen, the Saultrsquo manager of cemeteries, said the work should take approximately two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting, which would be enough time for cement to cure and new stone to be delivered. The estimated cost of the repairs is $14,000, Nenonen said. An insurance claim will be submitted by the legal department once the job is completed. The photo gallery above shows the damage sustained on the day of the crash and the work now being done to fix it.
