Diary in English
Christmas holiday 5
01/01/05
We had known that the New Year parade would be doing, but we didn't
know time and place about it. So we chose the way to Trafalgar through
the street front of Big Ben.
When we arrived near Big Ben, we saw people who was getting ready
for the parade. Even though it was a horribly cold day, we decided to wait
there.
While we were waiting for the parade, one person who was a staff
of the parade talked to us. He was a cheerful person. He asked us where
did we come from, and we answered "Japan". But he said "Never
mind". Then we asked to him when the parade would start. His answer
was "Yes". It was not because our queation. He had been using
"Never mind" and "Yes" for all people who asked to
him. Some time he came to us, and we enjoyed a short conversation. He gave
me a manual for the staff of the parade so that I told him that I had been
learning English and I was poor student. He said I should study with the
manual while I waited for the parade. And he gave us a sweet.
The parade was longer than I thought. Although we were perfectly
frozen, it was an enjoyable time. When "the Margate Queen" had
been coming on the parade, I gave a cheer for them.
