About quilts and me

I saw the quilt first at the Stauffer's home. It was very beautiful quilt named "Lancaster Rose",made by Mrs.Stauffer. She took us to see quilts everywhere. One day we went to the Amish colony to see their living and the many quilts they sell. I was very impressed by them.
The quilt begins by putting together the colored pieces. After that, we basete the top layer, batting, backing fabric and quilt them by hand. When I started to quilt my first one, the instructor said to me,
"You must do repeat one stitch by one stitch!"
And so, 10 years have passed, and I continue to make one quilt per year. I have now made 11 bedcovers. I made some small works too. I would be happy, if you enjoy my collection.

Time calendar
This is a quilt copied from the cover of the calendar in Peacemaker Company 2000(U.S.A.) When I saw it, I was eager to make it. When I went to America to buy some fabric for this quilt at my favorite quilt shop. On the way to Chicago with my son's family, we drove along I-80 and I could see the scenery same as the quilt.
This work could be divided into eight sections. I made some with our quilt circle and displayed by work exhibition. This is all applique'd, and now decorate the wall of my daughter's living room.(170×170cm)

Sampler quilt
This is the first work for me. There are verious patterns and it was fun to make, I finished it in two months. I used my dauter's old dress.(100×120)

Lemon star
It is the second work. While making the border, I was in the hospital to recovering from knee surgery. I made it on the bed and it became a memorable quilt. My Daughter & her hasband are useing it.(220×245)

The roses of the Netherlands
This one has elaborate border, but the quilting is not so good, so I want to make it again. My husband uses it.(182×262)

Hawaiian quilt
This is the Hawaiian quilt which I'm using for myself. The insturactor gave me some fabrics from old kimonos that she bought at flea market and kept them and very carefully. I cut out the fabric shapes and applique'd. I believe that this is the best work in all my life.(189×240))

Lancaster rose
This is the 4th work. At that time, I planned to make for son & his partner. So I asked my daughter-in law to choose it. She sent 3 different kinds of patterns and I selected the Lancaster Rose because I saw the same one at Lancaster. I bought the material in Kamakura and applique'd the top. My son is using it in U.S.A. now.(220×245)
