AUBE

Aube is a solo sound-generative unit that Akifumi Nakajima
started in the beginning of the 1990s.

Aube utilizes various materials and phenomena existing in our daily life
as sound source of which its music consists.
Matters as the sound source include the followings.

Nature and organism like fire, earth, water, air, ice, glass, stone, and metal.
Vibration generators like fluorescent lamp, glow lamp, one voltage controlled oscillator,
and analog synthesizer.

Biological signals as brain wave, heart beat, blood flow,
and magnetic resonance spectroscopy [MRS].

In the use of these organic collaborators, Akifumi gives a strict rule.
Aube is limited to use only one matter as the sound source in one piece of music
both in studio recording and live.

In its music, the sound from the source is metamorphosed in dynamic manner.
It should be noted that the metamorphosis is the process
that the essence of the source material or phenomenon is exposed.

This characteristic of Aube works raised a wild idea in my mind.
Metamorphosis of a matter might be a way for protecting its essence,
under the situation that the matter is insisted to be changed.

Is Kyoto just on the way of metamorphosis?
It might be metamorphosed for rejecting its change in qualitative level.

This was a tough question.
The question has been kept as a key for me to clarify the status of Kyoto
throughout the 1990s.
