No.266
Kagawa Prefecture

There was a Hiketa Castle here.
Hiketa Castle was the residence of lords Ikoma Masachika and Sengoku Hidehisa, retainers
of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, from the Sengoku period to the beginning of the Edo period
(The latter half of the 15th century to the first half of the 17th century).
The remains cover an area of 120,000 square meter and have seven divisions(kuruwa or maru)each
distinguished by earthwork, stonewall. or moat.
One noteworthy characteristic of this castle is the stone wall that surrounds the entire top part of the
mountain, the only castle built during the Sengoku period in Kagawa Prefecture that has such a wall.
