タガメ (Kirkaldyia (=Lethocerus) deyrolli) は日本最大の肉食性の水生昆虫で、分類上はカメムシ目のコオイムシ科に属しています。体型は扁平で、体長は約5〜7cmです。大変どう猛で、水中で前足を広げ、魚やカエルなどの獲物を待ち、通りかかった獲物をがっちりと捕らえて口吻で体液を吸い取ります。以前は水田などでよく見られましたが今ではすっかり数が減り環境庁編による日本レッドデータブックにも「絶滅危惧�U類」に指定されている貴重な昆虫です。このコーナーでは、作者が長年間続けてきた飼育経験に基づいて、この貴重なタガメを紹介していく予定です。

(Giant　water　bug (Kirkaldyia (=Lethocerus) deyrolli), called Tagame, is the aquatic　insect of the biggest carnivorousness in Japan. A figure is flat, and the body length is about 5-6cm. Tagame waits fish and frog spreading its fore-legs in water and catches them and absorbes body fluid. The number of Tagame decreased completely nowadays though it was seen well such as in rice field. In this corner, I will introduce this precious water bug based on the breeding experience which I　have　beeing　continued for long years. )
